Between the marshes and the Armoricain Massif lies the limestone plain composed of rocky soil over a Jurrassic base. The Secondary soil yields proof of the presence of the ocean 30 million years ago by the frequent discovery of ammonites.
This alkaline soil is ideal for the cultivation of cereals and oil-producing plants. The months of June and July present a luxurious patchwork of light and colour from the ripening wheat and the sunflowers in bloom.
To walk at night on the plain, to be surrounded by the scents of ripe, rustling wheat, to listen to the song of the crickets, everything conspires to lift the spirit in the contrasting silence.
