Situated on the ancient 'Chemin Vers' (the Roman Road which ran from Poitiers towards the sea), the site of Longèves developed around the Seigneurie de la Court of which the Manor house still remains. Its porch with its 'Merlon Pediment' is very unusual (16th century). In the 18th century, a copy of this porch was erected at the entrance of the Logis du Puy Bernier.
This second seigneurie is certainly more modern. It probably owes its origins to a lord named Bernier who built a tower (to which he gave his name) on the highest point of his domain.
