The Communal de Baude with its 67 hectares is the smallest in the Marais Poitevin and is used as a collective pasture. Take the footpath which skirts it for part of the way and discover its many riches.

Formally called Montreuil-sur-Mer because of its position on the edge of the Golfe du Pictons, this small commune now finds itself on the border between the Plain and Marais Poitevin. The charm of its 12th Century church, modified in the 15th and 18th Centuries, lies in its apparent simplicity. Its originality derives from the half-domed vault of the apse.

Next to the church, the magnificent portail de la cour (court gateway) is the only architectural element remaining of the old Château. Above the carriage gate, one can see the coat of arms of the Brunets, first lords of Montreuil. See also, Le Porche d'Ecoué which dates from the 18th Century, situated at 32 rue des Roches.
